Columbia Forest Products is proud to announce the start of two “financial rehab” programs, which represent a commitment to helping employees succeed in personal finance.
As an employee-owned company, Columbia knows that its success depends on the success of its employees. Always seeking ways to give back is part of this philosophy.
First-Time Home Buyers
“Many of our employees pay more in rent than most homeowners do in mortgage payments. With rent costs at record highs, saving for a down payment is out of reach for many hardworking families. While some of us were fortunate to receive financial gifts from family to help with homeownership, many do not have that support.”
– Michele Ford, Executive Dir., CFP Foundation
Prospective home buyers employed with Columbia for at least three years may be eligible for this program. Participants will be entered into a CFP budgeting course and assigned a personal finance mentor. They will establish savings accounts and goals and demonstrate an ability to meet those goals. Those who finish the program will be eligible to receive downpayment assistance of up to $5,000.
“We wanted to help our hardworking CFP Family members who have dreams of homeownership but, for whatever reason, need a little extra help to make it over the finish line. Our new first-time homebuyers’ program is a way to help make those dreams come true.”
– Greg Pray, CEO, Columbia Forest Products
Utilities Support Program
Hourly employees employed with Columbia for at least a year and have past-due utility bills may be eligible for this program. Participants will complete a CFP budgeting course, set a budget, establish a savings account and demonstrate the ability to meet savings goals. Those who finish the program will be eligible for up to $2,000 toward past-due utility bills.
