What makes PureBond® hardwood plywood "green"?
PureBond® technology is a soy-based, no VOC alternative to toxic, formaldehyde-based resins.
Additionally, PureBond® can be specified as FSC-certified, which provides an independent third
party claim of responsible forest management.
What is FSC® certified?
The Forest Stewardship Council™ is a global organization that has established a wood
certification program that classifies and distinguishes sustainable forestry practices
and sustainably made wood products. Their criteria take into account many factors
including social, economic, and environmental concerns.
What is a VOC?
A naturally occurring gas which can be released from many common household products.
These gasses have recently come under serious scrutiny as they are found to be irritating,
harmful and sometimes carcinogenic to humans. Formaldehyde is a VOC commonly found
in pressed wood products, as well as in many other products throughout your home.
What is Indoor Air Quality and why is it important?
IAQ is a term commonly used by groups such as the EPA to describe the air conditions
within our homes, offices and schools. Indoor air can be 2-5 times more polluted
than outside air - a real issue when you consider that we spend the majority of
our lives indoors. Asthma, upper respiratory tract infections, nausea, dizziness,
and memory impairment are minimal symptoms associated with poor indoor air quality.
More serious effects include hypersensitivity pneumonitis, humidifier fever, heart
disease, respiratory disease and cancer.
